The Florence flea markets are some of the best in the world. From rare antiques to vintage designer Italian Fashion you can find it all in the stands of the vintage markets that are scattered throughout the city.
Don’t worry about missing out on the markets because there are some that happen daily, and every weekend there is a different market to visit. Be prepared to dream of furnishing your own villa after walking through the antique market, and you might just find yourself needing another suitcase after visiting the weekly flea market at Cascine, not to mention, all the incredible vintage and thrift stores in Florence.
This daily market is a permanent antique market where you can find everything from furniture, vintage matchboxes, fashion, and art. The market is located directly behind Mercato Sant’Ambrogio and is open daily. It’s a perfect place to spend some time strolling through looking through the nicknacks and conversing with the booth owners.
Once you’re done exploring the antique stands at Mercato delle Pulci you can go directly across the street to wander through the stands that are set up daily outside of Mercato Sant’Ambrogio. This market has a little of everything from clothing to local produce vendors, to a makeshift restaurant with two tables serving up traditional Tuscan cuisine.
The Cascine Flea Market is located in Cascine Park on the x side of Florence. It is the largest open-air market in Florence and has a variety of fashion and home goods vendors. You can find vintage leather vests, and silk scarves, alongside small fashion brands that are selling their products.
In Fiesole, which is a small town that overlooks Florence you’ll find one of the best vintage fashion markets that happens the first weekend of every month. It’s worth the bus ride up not only to look through the selection of garments and accessories, but also for the breathtaking views overlooking Florence, and to stroll through the small town. While you should get to the market early to find the best things before they are gone, I highly recommend staying in Fiesole for the day and catching the sunset.
Every second Sunday of the month artisans flock to Santo Spirito to sell their creations. The market is one of the best in the city, with people watching that is as interesting as the goodies that you find in the stands. You’ll find art and jewelry as well as vintage fashion and antique objects.
On the third weekend of every month, you will find Piazza Indipendenza filled with vendors coming from all over Italy to sell everything from books, prints, and paintings to sculptures and vintage goods. Plan to spend some time here because the market is large with over 100 vendors, it’s hands down one of the best Florence flea markets with a little bit of everything and a lot to look at.
Located at the Iconic Fortezza da Basso in Florence, this market is the perfect setting for spending an afternoon exploring the stands and taking in the scenery. The monthly market has a little bit of everything from old coins to furniture. You’ll be sure to find something unique and one of a kind.
My personal favorite market in Florence happens on the last Sunday of every month at Mercato Sant’Ambrogio. It’s important to get there early because the good stuff sells quickly. You can find vintage Gucci, Fendi and Prada handbags going for €200-300. If you’re after unique home goods that are in great condition this is the Florence Flea Market for you.
